Based in the Haute Vienne (87) region of France - close to Limoges and Poitiers
Over the past couple of years we have been maintaining the grass runway and refurbishing parts of the farmhouse. Although its a new business, the farm at La Courandière is not new to microlight activities and was previously run for many years as a successful flying school. We are currently open as a chambre d'hôtes to anyone wishing to fly in this beautiful unspoilt region of France and experience some of the best weather that France has to offer. We are now open to visiting aircraft (PPR) and offer hangarage for suitably experienced pilots. Over time, we hope to develop the business and organise a fly-in/BBQ.
We have lived near the French Alps for the past 8 years, and now privileged to own a typical Limousin farmhouse with its own private airstrip
From a very early age, I became interested in aircraft and becoming a pilot. I started as a student pilot in 1988 obtaining my private pilots licence and then gradually added to my qualifications. In 1993 I became a flying Instructor and later qualified as a Flight examiner. I then moved onto twin engine aircraft, flying charter flights from Southampton. My first commercial break came in 1998 flying the turbo-prop Dash 8 out of Aberdeen, later moving onto jet aircraft. Now with nearly 22 yrs of commercial flying, I have accumulated over 15,000 hours in aircraft ranging from the 2 seat Skyranger to the 186 seat Airbus A320.
Emma has past experience working in operations at a flying school, Air Atlantique Classic flight at Coventry Airport and more recently as a Cabin Manager with British Airways (Brymon). Prior to this she spent 11 years working in Theatres and in Finance for the NHS and BUPA.
We both met through aviation and worked at the same flying school for many years, so are familiar with the daily running of an airfield
We look forward to meeting you all and sharing our passion for flying
